Peter CirasoleChief Executive Officer, President, Co-Founder Pete is responsible for the overall management of BASCOM and the strategic direction of the company. Combining over 20 years of leadership experience with his strong background in business, technology, and K-12 education, he has successfully driven company revenue and sales growth through innovation, focus, and execution. Since BASCOM’s founding in 1996, Pete has expanded the scope of its offerings to include a broad line of technology for safely and effectively using the Internet for learning. He continues to drive the organization towards producing practical, next-generation solutions for mobile devices. Pete began his career as a Financial Computer Consultant with Bell Atlantic, where he worked with management groups to automate manual financial processes and interface mainframe data to the company's PCs. He then worked with a family-owned contracting firm, where his duties included operations management and office system automation. Pete then went on to found a computer network cabling contractor, where he served as President. Pete has been an active member of the Long Island Software and Technology Network, www.listnet.org, beginning with BASCOM's involvement as a founding company. Appointed in April of 1998, he continues to serve on the LISTnet Board of Directors together with representatives of industry-leading technology companies. Pete attended The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance. |
Robert DeRosaChief Technology Officer, Co-Founder Robert DeRosa is the Chief Technology Officer at BASCOM, leading the development team in creating innovative technologies for safely accessing and using the Internet for education. Robert's planning and execution enabled BASCOM to successfully launch the industry-leading Anywhere Filter, a mobile filter solution for education with an educationally-focused browser for iOS devices. Prior to joining BASCOM, Robert developed networking software and an Internet connection for SITA (SOCIÉTÉ INTERNATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS AERONAUTIQUE). He also created networking gear as a Software Developer for the Networking Hardware Division of IBM. Robert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from The George Washington University. As an early Internet adopter, he realized the wealth of information on the web and the value this connectedness could bring to the classroom. He then joined Peter Cirasole, also a George Washington alumnus, and together with another friend, invented US Patent No. 5,987,606. Robert co-founded and is now a member of Connect-To-Tech, www.connecttotech.org, an all-volunteer, non-profit group, dedicated to promoting careers in technology to students. |
Robert McDermottChief Financial Officer Robert is the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors for BASCOM. He also serves as the Chief Financial Officer for a number of companies involved in manufacturing, real estate, and education. Robert began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Price Waterhouse. Later, he joined Nabisco and became the Comptroller for all US and foreign subsidiaries. In 1990, he became Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors for Charan Industries, a privately held corporation with more than $100 million in revenues. Robert has shown his commitment to education by previously serving on both the Wantagh School Board and it's Budget Advisory Board. Robert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University at Albany, State University of New York. |
Tony FoxenDirector of Business Development As the head of Business Development for BASCOM, Tony implements and designs growth strategies for BASCOM's new offerings, while building channels for sales of established products into key markets. He combines his expertise in developing business relationships with his sales experience as he identifies the challenges of both customers and prospects, and then matches their needs to a BASCOM solution. Tony also serves as the main point of contact for BASCOM authorized resellers and agents, and represents BASCOM at major industry events and conferences. Prior to joining BASCOM, Tony worked for several years at Water Management, Inc., of Alexandria, Virginia, then went on to co-found H2Options, a water conservation company serving multi-unit housing communities in the Washington, DC area. He was also an Account Executive for Adelphia Business Solutions, in Tysons Corner, Virginia, providing business-class telephony and other telecommunications products to medium and large organizations in the DC area. Tony is committed to improving education for children in PreK-12 through the use of technology. To further this cause he presently serves on the Parent Advisory Board of Hunter Mill Country Day School, in Vienna, Virginia. Tony earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The George Washington University. |
Fred McKennaDirector of Special Projects Fred McKenna is the Director of Special Projects for BASCOM. With his extensive background of over 38 years in education and technology, he brings entrepreneurial and team building skills to the company as he executes product strategies, develops marketing programs and channels, and drives performance improvements. In 1987, Fred formed Orion Systems Group to improve the quality of education for children through the use of information technology. The software developed by his company is still in use throughout the United States. Fred re-entered public education in 2008 as the Divisional Administrator for Instructional Technology at Western Suffolk BOCES. Fred has proven his commitment to education and technology both inside and out of the classroom. He began his career as a Science teacher in Islip Public Schools. As a co-founder and board member of the Long Island Software and Technology Network and chairman of its Education Committee, he continued his promise. Fred served on advisory boards at Suffolk Community College, Farmingdale College, and Manhattan College. He was also on the advisory board for Woman in Science and Engineering and the Long Island Mentoring Partnership. Fred earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Manhattan College and a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University. He has a certification in Secondary Education (Science), a Professional Degree in Educational Administration, and a certification as a School District Administrator. |
Diane HaganDirector of Marketing Communications Diane is the Director of Marketing Communications for BASCOM. With over 25 years in marketing, she brings a practical blend of hands-on and management experience to the company as she uses innovative ways to build brand awareness for BASCOM's solutions. Diane combines her expertise in communications with her ability to use new technology to craft and deliver messages that position BASCOM as an industry leader in educational filtering solutions. Diane was featured in Long Island Business News for the launch of the new Anywhere Filter for the iPad and other mobile devices. Prior to joining BASCOM, Diane worked as a consultant and was in printing/publishing. She held various management positions at Linotype-Hell, including Public Relations Manager and Publications Manager. During that time, she was published in Graphic Arts Monthly, American Printer, and In-Plant Reproductions. Diane earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Union College. |
