The Urban League of Long Island and BASCOM Announce a Partnership aimed at "Strengthening Communities Through Education"
Central Islip, New York - July 25, 2002The Urban League of Long Island, Inc. and BASCOM Global Internet Services, Inc. today announced their official partnership. These two entities have teamed up to "Strengthen Communities Through Education," with the overarching goal of this partnership being the promotion of an atmosphere here on Long Island that (1) Prepares our youth for the future, (2) Provides quality education and training, and (3) Fosters community involvement.
The first wide scale and public display of this educationally based partnership will take place this month during the National Urban League's 2002 National Conference being held in Los Angeles, California. The Conference, which officially begins on Sunday, July 28th and concludes on Wednesday, July 31st, will draw thousands of individuals from across the United States—all of whom are interested in discussing those critical issues facing African-Americans as we continue to move forward in the 21st century.
To this end, the Urban League of Long Island and BASCOM will join some of America's largest corporations, leading government agencies, major foundations, as well as civic and non-profit organizations in the Exhibitors Pavilion. The focus of the display will be BASCOM's flagship product, the Global Chalkboard, which is an Internet filter replacement solution that empowers educators to easily and efficiently integrate Web-based resources into K-12 curriculum while preserving teachers' ability to locally manage Internet use.
"BASCOM and the Urban League of Long Island have built a partnership with the vision of strengthening communities through education," says BASCOM President Peter Cirasole. "We are both committed to achieving this goal by providing quality education and training, preparing our youth for the future, and fostering community involvement."
