Global Chalkboard Delivers New Defense System to Keep Students from Accessing Social Networking Sites

Hauppauge, New York - April 3, 2008—BASCOM Global Internet Services, Inc., an innovative developer of Internet management solutions K-12 schools, today proudly debuts its new Dynamic Remote Proxy Detection System for enhanced security. Designed to keep students from using remote proxies to access social networking sites, this new feature offers a multi-layered defense that keeps students productive while using the Internet in the classroom.

This new detection system uses a heuristic approach that analyzes patterns in the requested URL. These patterns are then inspected on-the-fly to deliver the most, up-to-date security. If the Global Chalkboard detects a suspicious pattern for any site not yet blocked by the Remote Proxies filter category, it dynamically stops access to that site.

"BASCOM's Development Team is committed to improving the Global Chalkboard's security to keep up with the latest technology challenges," states Robert DeRosa, BASCOM's Chief Technology Officer. "When you bring the Internet into the classroom, it's imperative that a teacher be able to manage the classroom by eliminating any Internet distractions—such as social networking sites accessed via Remote Proxy sites—so that students stay focused on their work."
